Our facilities specialize in precision CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication and coating. We are AS9100 Rev C certified. With a continued investment in cutting-edge machinery, we are looking for operators to match. This CNC Setup position will report to the Supervisor of the Machining Department and will be responsible for the setup and operation of 5-axis CNC machines by performing the following duties.
Open Positions for 5-axis CNC Set up Operators:
- 2 openings for morning shift: 7:30 am - 3:45, Mon - Fri
- 1 opening for afternoon shift: 3:"30pm - 11:45pm, Mon - Fri
- 1 opening for midnight shift : 11:30 pm - 7:45 am, Mon - Fri (night premium will be added).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up machining equipment utilized by the organization to ensure equipment operations are at accepted standards for the type of tooling used.
- Study and interpret drawings, blueprints, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, tools to be used, materials for the job and setup requirements.
- Verify machined parts using precision measuring instruments.
- Ensure workpiece dimensions are correct and establish tolerance criteria.
- Measure, examine and test completed parts, identifying defects and ensuring conformance to specifications and blueprints.
- Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and performing basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
- Within the scope of the job requirements, adhere and comply with provincial and federal law, the company's ISO quality program and procedures, company policies, and applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work piece.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience setting up 5 Axis CNC milling machines in a production based manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Matsuura 4/5 axis CNC milling centers with Fanuc controls, or DMG 4 axis Horizontal CNC milling centers with DMG Fanuc controls, or DMG 5 axis milling centers with Heidenheim controls
- Advanced ability to read drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include: callipers, ID and OD micrometres, depth gages, indicators and scales.
- Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
- Able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing for demands and can deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Basic math skills, including: adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra to calculate material fabrication.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
