Our facilities specialize in precision CNC machining and metal fabrication, along with electromechanical assemblies. We are AS9100 certified. We are seeking a Quality Inspector to join our team reporting to the Director of Quality. The Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and verify products at various stages of production for fabricated and machined metal and plastic products by performing the following duties noted below.
Day Shift: Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 5pm; Friday - 7:30 am – 4pm
Afternoon Shift: Monday – Friday 3:30pm – 11:45pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performing inspection of precision sheet metal components and assemblies to customer drawings and specifications by dimensional and visually inspecting, of the processes & products, verifying fit, and assembly dimensional accuracy and product completion.
- Using standard conventional measuring equipment such as calipers, height gauges, micrometers, etc.
- Performing inspections, measurements, and analysis of set-up, first-offs, in-process, incoming, and final audits on products as required
- Generating quality documentation and reports, such as FAI (First Article Inspection Reports), Non-conforming reports, and customer or process required quality documentation.
- Collecting data to drive improvement opportunities in the process or product monitoring data, auditing the processes or systems providing input to the desired corrective action and verification of the effectiveness of the corrective action.
- Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within the limits of equipment capability.
- Enforce company standards regarding quality, safety and security regulations, environmental compliance and good housekeeping practices.
- Executing other assigned duties designated to them within the Quality Department, as needed.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Industrial, and/or Quality Engineering or similar discipline
- 5+ years of experience working as a Quality Inspector in an ISO9001 (or AS9100) certified manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting manufacturing/ engineering drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of GD &T.
- Familiar with SPC principles.
- Familiar with the use of ERP systems
- Excellent computer literacy and ability to work with computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiar with the programing or operating a Laser Scanner, CMM or Faro Arm an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent attention to details and the ability to troubleshoot.
- Able to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Able to work rotating shifts morning and afternoons.
Additional Skills/Training (not mandatory, but an asset):
- ASQ certification
- Completion of college level certification in Quality Assurance
- Understanding of processes in metal manufacturing (forming, bend calculations, welding, etc)
- Use of SolidWorks
