 Foreman/Lead Man Sewer, Water &  Drainage

Compensation: $56.27 / hour plus Local 183 Benefits.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Foreman to lead crews on underground utility, sewer, concrete, and drainage construction projects. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily field operations, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to spec.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate crew members on sewer installation/repair, drain, and weepingtles.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, grading plans, and site drawings
  • Lay out and verify grades, elevations, and pipe alignment using laser levels/transits
  • Oversee excavation, shoring, pipe-laying, backfilling, and compaction
  • Direct concrete form work, pouring, finishing, and curing for structures such as manholes, catch basins, curbs, and slabs
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA/local safety regulations, trench safety protocols, and confined space procedures
  • Manage daily job site logistics: equipment, materials, deliveries, and subcontractors
  • Complete daily reports, timesheets, and job progress documentation
  • Train, mentor, and manage performance of crew members
  • Communicate with project managers, engineers, and inspectors on site progress and issues
  • Troubleshoot field problems and make on-the-spot decisions to keep projects moving

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in underground utility construction, with prior foreman or lead experience
  • Strong knowledge of sewer, storm drain, and concrete construction methods
  • Ability to read civil/construction blueprints and grading plans
  • Experience operating or directing heavy equipment (excavators, skid steers, compaction equipment)
  • Working knowledge of trench safety and OSHA regulations (OSHA 30 preferred)
  • Valid driver's license (CDL a plus)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
